We called the number back: 937-229-3066. It IS the University of Dayton Alumni office. Why they're calling me, I have no idea. You can leave a voice mail asking them to stop calling you. Their message gives a lot of information about applying for a job as a "caller"--apparently, they are now hiring. They also give the name and number of the director of the alumni office.
Automated phone systems are a [***]. They are obviously ineffective and a nuisance more than anything else, and I don't know why so many companies would use them. Anyway, I am an alum from the Univ. of Dayton and I think all they want is to update records n such, so said the lady on the other end when I missed the call and called back. I, too, do not want much else to do w UD...I got my very expensive degree, cannot find work, and have thousands in loans...I do not plan on giving them any more money. I don't know why anyone would. The school costs too damn much anyway. Plus, I'm an alum, I paid my dues, why do they need more of MY money? They aren't a "non-profit."
We checked with our daughter who is a current student at the University of Dayton (UD). She said that this caller is claiming to be associated with UD; however, that is false. UD is not actually associated with it. It's just like the "charity" calls we receive for Police associations.
I have been getting calls from this number. The claim is that they are from U.D. Whether they are or not, to h*ll with them! I spent untold thousands on them for my Graduate degree. When the day came to graduate, they moved it from a Saturday to a Thursday (Who has family who can get off work in the afternoon?) afternoon. Why? The president wanted to play golf with a few deans and guests on Saturday! I told them then and I mean it still that they will NEVER get another cent from me!
