Received automated call saying it was google trying to secure my account from a hack. Left a code for me to use. However, I checked and there was no attempt by google to advise me of the hack.
No, you are wrong. Schuyler is a shill. It was NOT the company officially known as "Google" calling anyone from the referenced phone number. That number is used by the myriad of "Google Scammers" who use the Google name as way to trick people into paying for SEO services that are nothing short of Fraud.
So that kinda makes you either dumb as a box of rocks, thinking that number belongs to Google, OR a Shill yourself. Or probably both. So, no apology forth-coming. Internet warrior? LOL, you are dating yourself Shill-Girl. You are my natural enemy, and You are Busted.
This is a legitimate call from Google. I have a "google" phone number, and anytime it is called, it forwards to my cell. Use it for my business so that I don't have to give out my cell number. No, I'm not a shill, a liar, a con artist, etc. It is legitimate. As poster above said, they call every so often to find out if your forwarded number is still good. They verify by having you enter a 2 digit code. No personal information, etc.
