just called me telling me he was with Microsoft and that my computer had viruses. Microsoft does not call you. when i said "this is a scam", he screamed at me "this is not a scam". told him not to call again, and he screamed "oh, i will call again". What an [***].
Says they are Windows Tech support. Says Microsoft got notified that I have viruses. Has you check the Event Viewer for errors (there are always errors in Event Viewer). Claims the errors are viruses (they aren't). Then says to right-click and select delete (delete isn't an option, it's a log file). When you say there's no "delete" he groans "oh, my god" and asks you to go to Teamviewer to give them control of your pc to "fix" it. I pulled the plug there.
Says they are Microsoft and have detected virus (virii?). They speak fractured Englich (yes, I spelled it that way on purpose), and say they are in Michigan, but cannot tell you the city. You can tell they are from the Indian sub-continent due to the delay in the bandwidth, with a number out of New York. I asked them what my name was, and it was not my Microsoft registered name, it was what I used to put in the phone book.
When I am feeling sporting, I try to keep them on the phone as long as possible, then I think of the worst boss I have ever had, and then rant...
Otherwise, I feel sorry for any seniors who fall for this scam.
Got a call claiming to be from windows support. Demanding I enter an unknown website so they can take complete control of my computer. When I started laughing, they hung up. SCAM! Please don't fall for this.
