just called me telling me he was with Microsoft and that my computer had viruses. Microsoft does not call you. when i said "this is a scam", he screamed at me "this is not a scam". told him not to call again, and he screamed "oh, i will call again". What an [***].
Nan, you have me nervous. How were they able to install "team view" (I don't know what it is on your computer just by someone answering the phone)? First time I heard of this. Please post a reply so I can read. Thanks. The post I going to submit is below for you & everyone else.
Not home. Rec'd call from this number 2:55pm EST & caller ID said John Kendall. Of course no msg. left on answering machine. Just searched on Google & said number in Rego Park, New York. I had another call, different number earlier this week in New York. I don't know anyone in New York. Home but didn't answer. I just let my phone take care of it. It tells me who's calling & I can look at number & let it go. If important leave me a msg. Otherwise I just don't answer anymore. Just gets really frustrating when I'm busy, sick, sleeping & don't want the dang phone ringing. I'm on Do Not Call List as well but I don't know when/if anything be done with these scumbags. Hopefully someone will be able to outsmart them & let the rest of us know what we can do to protect ourselves & those we love. Good luck to everyone.
The caller asks the mark to find the "Run" command on their computer.
The scammer then instructs the mark to activate a built-in Windows program that allows "outsiders" to access the computer.
The scammer uses that program to inject malware, and usually charges the mark to do that.

Slim, THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have made me feel more safe online. I am pretty up to date on computers & I have actually done this once with my internet provider to correct problems (I called them) but was really concerned that Nan said they loaded a program on her computer. She didn't say that someone actually let them run something on her computer (what were they thinking?). I DO NOT run much of anything on my computer myself & surely would not run something from someone I didn't know calling me on phone. I am even getting leery of Microsoft updates. I got the same call from "John Kendall" at 9:04 this morning. I knew it was a scam immediately, but I tried to keep him on the phone to get info. The man with a thick Indian accent had no good answers for anything. He just kept telling me to go to my computer. I finally just said no. They he got really mad and wanted to know my name which I had no intentions of providing. Then, he made up some story where he was trying to reach someone named Christina, and eventually, apologized saying he must have the wrong number and really wanted Christina....yeah...
This number says on caller ID -John Kendall along with the number 347-753-9068.
I answered and it is an Indian sounding (country) guy obviously in a call room with lots of background talking.
He is telling me he is with Microsoft Company and there is a virus on my computer that is doing something which I can't understand due to his bad English.
I act totally surprised and then he is telling me he needs my bank account number to fix the problem.
So I say how about 555111-Screw you and I can tell he is writing it down.
He then proceeds to tell me that there aren't any letters in bank account numbers which I then tell him there are in mine and to go wait by the mailbox and I'll send him a check.
I then proceed to hang up on him.
