Sounds to me like you are part of the scam. How could someone pull off a call from the number recited....they were in that office idiot. The map point to a southern state as to where this number is from, not CA. Also, they call on one 800 number and ask you to call back on a different 800 number. I do not think so. You should have signed in as ScamMan.
This has been going on for years and no one can put a stop to it??? Obviously, from reading over the posts, this scammer seems to know when someone has made a claim. Hmmm.... What raised the red flag for me was the cold call coming from an SSA person. Usually, they send a letter, or send an email to an online inquiry, which tells you who to call. I did call SSA and asked them to verify if anyone was trying to call me from the SSA. No, no record of anyone trying to call me. Plus why would an office in California call someone in NJ? Hmmm???? Scam.
I received a call from this number , ID read as social security admin. had all the information on me,regarding my ssi application. Did not ask for my SS number. Said, needed some clarification on my application to move forward with the processing, gave me a date of my benefits start date and approximate amount. He sounded genuine.
I called the number back, got recorded message that it is a non working number.
I called SS admininistartin # 800 772 1213 left message to call me back, they returned my call from the same number. I told about the call from a 510 970 1100. They told me that it is from social security office, and confirmed the call history from their computer record, including the name of the person who called me. RELAX, It is OK
