The guy from RLS Construction called me (a municipal employee) some months ago and insisted that he send me a free saw blade to try and then he would invoice our city if we liked the blade. When I told him I could get fired for buying a blade without doing the advance paperwork, he got mad and insisted that I would for the only city in the nation with such a rule and he eventually hung up on me after getting madder. Well, today I had a voice mail from Jessie Smith with RLS Construction and I failed to recognize the name until it was too late and he started his high pressure saw blade sales pitch. He said he would be showing them at the Las Vegas Concrete Expo so I said I would look at the blades there and he said that “nobody comes to his booth except his loyal customers” (I think he doesn’t have a booth). So, I said I’d check his web site and he said he didn’t have a web site because it was “under construction”. So, as the high pressure sales started, I finally had to hang up on him.
Just received a call from 661-310-0910 with a man with the same attitude as above. I asked did he need a quote or some work done but he said he just needed to talk to the owner. Was very rude.
He left me a number for the owner to call back but is seems like someone wanting to sell 1000 saw blades from California
Got a call from "larry" smith the owner, evidently co owner with Bernard, Richard, and Jesse, to tell my boss to call him because he would know what it is about. Rude and considering calling back to let him know I'm not stupid and not to call again. Sales, for sure.
Joe Smith called from RLS Construction from 661-310-3280 and asked for my supervisor by first name (like he knows him); except my supervisor doesn't use his first name at all which told me that the person pretending to know him didn't. I asked him the nature of his call and he said, "Oh, Blank knows me, this is a business call and he should know what it is about. I politely took his name and number and called him from my throwaway cell phone and asked to speak to a fictitious person. He tried to elicit additional information, which I declined to give and hung up. A few minutes later someone from the same number called using a different name but ending in "Smith" and asked for someone who is no longer with the company. The caller upon hearing my voice hung up.
This guy "Joe Smith" keeps calling our office asking for the owner, saying the same things with same rudeness as all above and left return phone # of 661-310-3280. I'm glad I found this blog so now I know I can just tell him off next time he calls. Thank you all.
your input was helpful! I just took a message for our owner from a Joe Smith - only the last four
digits of telephone number are different - had a feeling it was a bogus call...that confirms it.
