I just received the same call from 202-202-1234 which is fictitious in its self.
They claimed they worked for A1 computer who is authorized by Microsoft to investigate error messages. They tried to get me to run the following link into my run command: http://showmypc.com/products.htm...
This seemed highly unusual, since I have never gotten a call like this in 15 years of playing with computers. When questioning them about working for Microsoft...the man changed his story several times.
Who ever receives a weird call and just doesn't seem correct.....DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION. This is malicious software and they will obtain all information that is stored on the computer if thats what they want. They called me on my business line. So please be very cautious to anyone receiving misc calls. write down and record everything without doing anything they have instructed....Then report to your states fraud department.
Hi, also received a phone call, told them I couldn't understand their words, please be patient with me.... told me they are from M-soft they are M=soft certified tech and are receiving codes that a malicious virus is attacking my computer - they will help me so I can get rid of it - asked me to turn my computer on - it was on already - well I told them I had to go - to do something else - which was check on their info - asked for their call back number - they wanted me to tell them the best time for them to contact me, i told them the other way was better for me - they gave me the following information:
New York City A1 tech squad.
646 -915- 1375
Stanley Johnson
Number on my phone is: 202-202-1234
According to them they are a Microsoft certified technician.

I received the call three times in the span of 5 minutes. I was literally in the shower and did not answer, which is why I assume they tried three times. I called the number back and a recording advised that this is a non-working number.
I have received the "authorized Microsoft" "your computer has a virus about six times in the last two years, from various different telephone numbers. Finally, I told them that I was following their instructions, while in fact I was doing absolutely nothing...When it got to the point that they asked what did I see on the screen, I asked if they thought I was an idiot, used some "expletives deleted" and hung up.
I'm going to spread word of this scam around to my Facebook friends and make sure that none of them fall for this, especially the older folks, like my in-laws and the grandparents.
