This number sent me text message saying I owe 1560.00 and that this is the final notice and that I need to pay them. I called the number and the man with a heavy accent said he was calling for Fairfax and told me I needed to settle this over the phone. I told him no and I asked him where is this coming from he claim I had a online loan which I've never did and when I asked to speak to someone over him he rushed me off the phone and hung up.
i just got a call from 202-239-2215 and i spoke with a Brian Smith badge number # GS23916 and he said i owed from the year 2010 - 2014 with a total of $ 6,850.00 and that a suit was file against me and that i would be arrested unless i make payments. do you know of any number that i can call to see if it is a scam.
Definitely a scam. I received a similar call for the exact same years and almost the same requested sum. The IRS will never contact you initially via phone or email regarding such a matter. I even called back and told them I knew it was a scam and their response to me was to "F-Off". Go to www.tigta.gov and you can report the number(s) as impersonating the IRS.
