we got the same call..they left a message, my husband called them back from his work, the man said there was an IRS lawsuit against him, my husband said "well my wife pays the bills so you should arrest her"….and then the man hung up on my husband. But the really concerning thing is that the next day, they called my in-laws house and said there son (my husband) was going to be arrested for an IRS lawsuit pending against him. My father in law hung up on the man (he is an accountant and knows the IRS does not make phone calls) but was taken back by this type of phone call and immediately texted my husband to make sure there was no lawsuit against him! Pretty scary that they had the last 4 digits of my husbands SS number, his name and my father in laws name and phone number!
Same thing just happened. Dept of Treasury "chief investigator" Chester Benn called about overdue tax bill and immediate arrest warrant. The guy also wanted us to go to CVS or Walgreens to buy a Money Pack card. Said police would come to house and arrest us if we did not pay immediately. He wanted us to stay on the line but put cell phone in pocket and not talk to anybody about what was happening while in the store. Total scam!
