I have received 3 or 4 of these calls threatening my arrest and legal action. I called the number back last time they calle, aboutd 2 months ago and I was told to just leave a message but then the voicemailbox was full!! So I got another harrassing call today and called it back immediately...and the woman says it's taxes owed from 2009 and 2010 and that the government thinks I am trying to run away with the money. She said they tried to deliver a letter to me on 9/11/2014...ironic date...and then I was told an officer would be at my house in 30 minutes to arrest me and I would go to jail for 5 years, lose my job, my home all my bank accounts would be seized and would end up owing over $48,0000.
Oh and she ended the rather threatening call by saying, "have a nice day Ma'am!" and abruptly hung up!!!
I'm glad to know this is a SCAM....it would be upsetting to think the government had decided to handle official matters in this manner!
I called them back and told them my husband worked for IRS and my brother was with interpol & we were going to shut their sorry [***] down. The woman screamed & hung up.
You made my night!! That is the best comeback ever! I could not stop laughing. I received the same phone calls as everyone else and have reported it once already. The kicker really is when they end the message with "Have a nice day!" after threatening you with legal action. This is where someone forgot to "Americanize" them.
