Just received a message when I came home from work. Called the number & person who answered acted like they couldn't hear me. Called again, same thing. Decided to look up IRS # on their website. All 1 8 00 numbers. Decided had to be a scam. The IRS has not sent me anything before this.
Call came from person identifying themselves as IRS worker. They left ID and telephone number for a return call. Office hours not mentioned. My understanding is the IRS will not call a telephone number unless you have been in conference with them about Tax problem
The caller from this number left a threatening message... that we were under some sort of criminal something or other... Probably ILLEGAL to threaten on an answering machine!!!
Received call from number. They left message that either my attorney or myself needed to call and explain why my IRS bill was default. They gave me 48 hours to return call or the IRS would be knocking on my door. I called them back and the woman answered phone with a simple "Hello". When I asked what number I had reached she said it was Treasurery Department. I told her to stop calling.
Received a call from this number that was an automated message. The voice asked for myself or my attorney to call, otherwise they would wish me luck as the situation "totally unfolds on me." They left no information other than a callback number. Doesn't seem legit.
