I just got a call from "Microsoft Technical Support"... letting me know that I have virus' on my computer... and he asked me get in front of my computer and type in "eventvwr" into my search window...

He was very courteous and offered that I call back to verify that this call was legit... the number he gave me was 716.616.9360 (out of DC) and his (Derek) extension number was 6825. He had a very strong accent that was hard to understand.

I didn't click to continue when the window's box popped up to say, "Do you give this permission?". I told him I needed to verify this before I click this... and he hung up.

After a quick search, I found a link about this scam they pull and that you should never go through this with them. I'm glad I didn't. Who knows what kind of virus I would have downloaded and then had to pay him to fix (or so his story would go I'm sure)
Beware of these scams...
