You realize that your comment makes your own "personal political agenda" spectacularly obvious, right? You are engaging in exactly the same behavior for which you purport to be calling 'zoot' down.
This fact that makes it abundantly clear that your true purpose isn't to discourage political speech - it's to discourage political speech with which you don't personally agree.
That's one shamefully hypocritical and underhanded tactic (not to mention poorly reasoned and aggressive).
Zoot mentioned his/her politics because we are attempting to determine whether or not this was a political call (for legitimate donations) or a scam call (for illegitimate "donations" to a crook's personal bank account). I get many calls from people seeking political donations based on my party affiliation, partisan magazine subscriptions, past donations, etc; all from politically appropriate causes/organizations. If an outfit from the 'other side of the aisle' called me, I would be MUCH more suspicious of that caller's agenda/legitimacy, simply because I would know that they could not have gotten my information from any of 'their side's' mailing lists.
Zoot's comment was entirely appropriate in regard to the purpose of this website. His political affiliation was/is ENTIRELY relevant to an objective assessment of this specific caller's agenda.
The only people making it 'political' - in the partisan sense - are the people (like yourself) who are calling him or her down because you don't agree with his personal politics.
I take acceptation to your aggressive reply to zoot, and I dismiss entirely your illogical attempt to intimidate him/her into refraining from posting relevant information.
The kind of political bullying that you've engaged in here is shameful and dangerous, and we must resist it in all forms - regardless of our own personal politics.
