A new number for the IRS scam trying to cash in on the fear of the IRS. The scam works so well they were willing to leave the following voice message: "Hello. This call is officially a final notice from IRS: Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you the IRS is filing lawsuits against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number: 202 230-6195. I repeat, 202 230-6195. Thank you."
Do not fall for this scam. The IRS will NEVER call. The IRS operates via correspondence sent USPS. Turn the table on these snakes: if you receive this call strongly encourage reporting (and any other IRS scam) on the US Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration site created to report fraud and abuse: https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml. Reporting documents the issue for US Treasury Inspector General investigation.
