The same thing happened to me. They called a few times and I did not answer. Then when I answered, they hung up. I blocked the call. Obviously a scammer. I may change my number if this continues and put on full on privacy blocks
This is a scam number line from INDIA. They have stole information from a online application. They are telling you that you qualify for a loan of 5,000. But in order to prove that you can pay... they need to see verification of funds...simply go to Walgreens and purchase a green dot card...call them with number. In 30 minutes you will have your cash.... LOL They will have your green dot card money....you have nothing and stolen Identity.
If she paid with GreenDot or Western Union, she will not be able to get her money back.
I would encourage her to place a flag on her credit report with Experian,TransUnion, and Equifax. Also, since she lost actual money, she should file a report with the following:
Local Law Enforcement
FBI
Her State Attorney General
FCC
these people are like fleas instead of sucking your blood they sucker your money out of you. don't be so stupid for taking phone calls from people you do not know. they are scam artist. they keep calling me and when I call them back they so not answer as a business I said why you keep calling me then he said you looking for a loan. what the hell . I told him I do not look for a loan from a unknown person calling me and in the first place If I wanted a loan I go through my bank not a scam [***] like you he called me a [***] [***] . [***] your [***] [***] well what does that tell you. people are listening too them and they do scam you. the police cannot do nothing too them. sometimes they can as I heard about a scam and the guy was caught. they are from nigeria. they are scam artist of the world. this is all they go all day is [***] phone calls. stop being so stupid and do not listen too them. the accent is Nigerian and when they talk you cannot understand them. a woman calls too with the accent. I tell them too [***] off and die and hang up
I don't usually take calls from numbers I don't know. Right now, however, I'm in the middle of a job search. Since recruiters aren't necessarily based anywhere near me, I find myself answering every call I get.
I got this one today. It got dropped in the middle, for some reason. It sounded like garbage right from the start.
One thing we need to remember: the government doesn't cold call people. It sends letters first, whether it's for something good, bad, or neutral. If it's truly urgent, then it's probably something bad, in which case they're going to send someone to find you, since you're probably a flight risk.
The government isn't going to hound you in order to give you money. Dream on.
