IRS will always write. IRS never calls. Above all IRS will never threaten you, IRS will never make an offer to settle your case over phone. Whatever IRS does, it will be in writing, and you will get a chance to contest or appeal your case with facts.
IRS has enormous resources and it will find your correct current mailing address if it needs to reach you.
If someone's calls and threatens you over phone with an arrest or big fines or punishment, it is a scam. That is not how our American justice system works. Don't fall for scams. Scams support criminal, terrorist groups.
this guy is a fraud,he sounds indian then again who can beat indians in internet related fraud because all these numbers are from magic jack.this guy should be put into jail
Got the call too. I didn't answer it and he left a message. Very strong foreign accent, could not understnad what he was taking half of the time. I was surprised he knows my name. Posing as IRS. I do not owe tax and have beeing filing tax every year with accountant, I'm very confident I'm not in trouble with IR. Scam, Scam, Scam. Do not pick up the phone and do not call back.
See my note in the 800notes.com (this website) at:

It's lengthy, but it explains a lot about this type of scam and why the scammers often use magicJack numbers.
I got the same call. The number called one and didn't want to give up after the first nor left a voicemail, then called again so I picked up to see what it was about. Apparently he claims himself as an officer and from IRS and demands to repeat the number that I had taken down... Yeah pretty suspicious. Be careful all.
