The caller said my brother was in a bad car accident and couldn't talk, so they wanted me to tell him my brother's name. (How did he know to call me if he didn't have the name of my brother?) I asked what town he was calling from and he said "California". I pointed out that California is a state, not a town, and he then said "Anaheim", but could not pronounce it any way near correctly. I thanked him for his trouble and hung up.
I received a call from this number today.the guy said a family member was in a car accident. We asked if we could talk to the person. The guy said he couldnt talk right now. We said we were on our way to the location. He said hes no longer there. We ended the call. Called police. Officer said its a scam.
I received a disturbing call from this number today stating that my husband or brother was involved in a accident and that he gave them my phone number to call...I freaked out and said where? They stated a location very close to home. I said I will be right there. Another guy hispanic accent got on the phone said that they were involved in an accident he told my husband not to call the police and he did. So he told me he that he glocked him with his gun and put him in the back of the car and is holding him hostage because he told him not to call the police that he was a fugitive of the law. He was asking for 1500.00 for my husband to stay alive and I told him I didnt have that on hand. He said you need to get it and do not hang up this phone otherwise your husband will be dead. During all of this as I was in panic I wrote down my kids fathers number to my coworker and had her call him and he answered. I knew he was okay and needless to say a few cuss words were said and I hung up and reported this to the police and now I did my research and see this isnt the first time.
