Received three voicemail messages on the same day. Caller identified himself as Ofificer Kevin Smith of the IRS Tax Crime investigative unit and that an arrest warrant had been issued against me and my personal property. Caller requested that I call him back to avoid further legal action.
Complaints were filed with TIGTA and the FTC against phone number 202-559-7669. This is an obvious tax fraud scam by a person impersonating a government employee. Caller had an Indian or Pakistani accent and was reading from a script. Don't fall prey to these criminals.
I was informed that i was chosen to receive a grant from the government off $9000 no pay back nor pay no taxes on the money. I wasbgiven a id number along with a verification call back number. I called the number surprisingly they answered and told me to purchase a greent dot card from cvs or the dollar store. I in turn informed them that i already had a bank card from Walgreen. They said it had to be a greendot card and once i get to the cashier i was to put $220 on the card and let them know that the card was activated. I asked why dovi need to put 220dollarsbon the card? They said they needed to register the money with the bank. So i inturn told them to just go ahead and give the money to someone else. There is no need to get a green dot card to put money on it when i requested a western union transfer. ALL BEWARE IT'S A SCAM. please do not send money on a greendot card. As they wiil take the money off the card and YOU will never hear from them AGAIN!
Whenever someone calls and says you received money, a) red flag. Whenever some tells you to go purchase something, b) red flag. And put money on it and it has to be a card of their choice, 2 red flags.
Why do people even talk to these people. Bottom feeding ripoffs that prey on people
