I was conned. Senior Officer Ray Jackson (from the Investigation Department at the IRS) convinced me that if I did not cooperate and do what he said, I would be arrested. He said I owed a large sum of money in taxes and needed to pay immediately in Walmart gift cards. He said I would receive a verification code after receiving the cards calling off the arrest warrant. He did not give me one. Once I came to my senses, other people reported Officer Ray Jackson as a scam online. He of course denied the accusation and transferred me to the "attorney general" Allen Brooks who said I needed to cooperate or I'd be arrested. When I finally hung up (after almost 2hrs of being on the phone and with the threat of if I hang up and call my spouse I'd be arrested (or my spouse would be colluding with a criminal-me)) they called numerous times. I verified that the gift cards were empty. Officer a Jackson said if I cooperate an Officer and an accountant would be at my door the next morning to go over the audited tax files to see if the taxes owed were legitimate or a mistake. If it was a mistake, I would get my money back. Do not answer!!! I was terrified. I generally think of myself as intelligent but they got me. I feel ashamed. Please don't let this happen to you.

Sorry for your loss, their intimidation tactics can be fatal if you're unaware. Keep in mind the IRS is not in the practice of random calls, having power to make arrests, or threatening callers. They're certainly not going to accept WalMart gift cards as a form of payment, either. You'll be hearing from the IRS in the mail, unless you have had previous contact with them at your convenience. "Ray Jackson" is actually a thief. These crooks often instruct unsuspecting receivers use prepaid cards to prevent tracking along with denying you a chance at a refund.

IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars.  They don’t send the local police or Sheriff to arrest you.  Everything they do is done either administratively or using Federal Agents.   They don’t call you up and demand immediate payment. If you are going to be arrested, they don’t call you up to warn you.  They only issue arrest warrants for people who are really bad actors and have tried to stick them for very large amounts of money, not a few hundred or thousand.  Administratively, they send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  The IRS does not accept payment in Itunes Cards, Amazon gift cards, or any other type of payment other than cash, check, credit or debit card (from normal everyday citizens).

Same thing.  Told me I had an arrest warrant, asked me to give him wal mart gift cards.  Total scam.  Now I'm out $500.  Expensive lesson.  IRS can't threaten you with arrest.  Now I know.  DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER.  TOTAL SCAM.  Also, another number, 208-216-7427 is associated with this.  I will report him to authorities because it is a federal offense to impersonate a federal officer.
