They try to say that I was awarded a grant and that I could receive it three ways by 1 giving the my banking info, two if I have a prepaid card or 3 MoneyGram... Then they said I had to uplode 200 just to make sure the money can go thought. Then when I called him on it, he started calling me names and yelling it was too funny... But know if u get a call like that it's a scam, the USA do not call you to give you free anything.
I just got a call from a private number (4/13/2017 1:42PM), so no way to call them back. I was told that the call was on behalf of the US Government, they knew my address and my phone number and asked my age, but not my birth date, and whether or not I was employed. It sounded similar to the calls you get about your "Windows Computer," or whatever the scam is this week. I could hear many people talking and the person who called me was difficult to understand because he was speaking English with a heavy Indian accent and surrounded by other people who were all speaking loudly. He told me I was selected to receive $9,900.00 which could be deposited directly into my bank account or onto Moneygram--those were the two options that I was able to understand anyway. I am naturally skeptical of people--I know that many people would rather steal your money than to work for it, so I'm always expecting a scammer when someone wants to give me something. My first impulse was to look it upon the internet and I found this site immediately. He urged me to call right away and would not stop until I agreed. Of course I have no intention of ever calling the number. I hope someone stops these people or finds a way to prosecute them for ripping people off. Unfortunately, I think they manage to get a lot of people to participate who are simply too trusting, lonely or naive to know the difference. Also, I would have to agree with Diane that if the Government comes calling it's more likely going to be what you can do for or give to them.
