I just received the same call about 30 mins ago and they stated the same thing. 9200 in grant money from the government and I am like how why and what for. Please be careful out here.
Received a call stating I was awarded a grant from the US Government for $9000 due to being a good citizen and other qualifying items. Wanted to confirm my information (which they provided to me) and then stated there were three options to chose to receive my grant money.. 1. provide my bank info 2. provide info on a prepaid card I may have .. 3. western Union.
I didn't give either of the first two and said western union which in turn I was informed to call back to 202-656-6425 and the manager would complete the process.
This phone# has called twice in the last two days claiming to be IRS and that I was being sued. I called back the first time (after 8pm est ha) and they of course tried to come off as gangster sounding IRS... I just laughed and hung up.
Claimed to be IRS via message left and that they were calling to claim owed debt. Course I have credit monitoring so def scammed.
Called the number just for S&G and they were not very professional nor sounded English, hopefully nobody gets taken by these tools. I just laughed and hung up.
