A call was left on my answering machine saying that they were from the IRS and they were going to file a lawsuit against me and wanted me to call them to get info on the case. They mentioned that they had been trying to reach us, but we never had gotten any other calls.
I got a call from that number 202-657-4369 today, with exactly the same message. Sort of a creepy female voice. This was my first message from them too, even though they said the "tried to reach you" stuff. The IRS even warns people about the fake IRS agent phone scams around tax time. Plus I think if they were going to file a lawsuit they would just, you know, file a lawsuit. Or send a letter first.
