As everyone else has said, it's a man with a thick Indian accent. We had a bad connection it seemed but I did hear a woman's voice in the background. Multiple people actually. I believe that is just a recording. It's probably just a man who is single handedly trying to scam people. He said the name "Adler" which just so happens to be my father's old doctor but I know him and he is not an Indian. Be careful, people! DON'T CALL BACK! You won't reach them!
I have received multiple calls from this number and have never answered. Most recently this a.m. a male Indian sounding voice with other voices in the background. The VM was 1 minute and couldnt understand most, but he was obviously talking to someone and said "I just got $500. Now shut the f*** up and do your job"! This is extremely frightening that this can continue to go on. What can be done???! Also, showed up as being from washington d.c. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
its ppl trying scam you out of your money once you give them you information dont let try to scam you out. play along as long it take and then ask them why you need to paid another money to get money.
I received a phone call today 10/17/2016 from a male with a thick Indian accent. There were other voices in the background. He said I had won grant $ from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services - Department of National Institutes of Health. Apparently, I had been "randomly selected" to receive $14,566. I played along & said that I was interested. He offered me 3 solutions on how I can get my money (1) WIRE/TRANSFER money directly into my bank account; (2) WIRE/TRANSFER money into a prepaid visa, mastercard, etc; (3) WIRE/TRANSFER... something somewhere else...
I told him if this was the US government, I wanted a printed check mailed to me. He then started talking really fast & made it even harder to make out what he was saying. He said in order to get the grant, I had to provide him with information that he can wire/transfer money directly into. I told him that I would need to think about this & then he kept pushing that I could call his "branch manager" & he could verify my grant ID & winnings.
Don't be fooled guys. Grants require APPLICATION PROCESS. If you didn't apply, they'll don't have ANY way of finding you. and trust me... if you applied for a grant application, you would know. The APPLICATION IS EXTENSIVE & TEDIOUS.
If ANYBODY is trying to get your information to "DIRECTLY TRANSFER/WIRE MONEY" to you -- DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM. Usually the first indicator that this is a SCAM.
My family works for the IRS & the IRS NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER reach out to people over the phone. They ALWAYS either communication through mail or email (if you have provided that to the IRS).
