They said it was the dept of treasure and that I was being given a grant for 8000.00. they said they could put the money on any credit card, debit card and even a food card with in 5 minutes or I could deposit funds into my account. Lady was rude and very hard to understand. I am sure this is a scam
This number called me. I answered and they hung up. On my phone it said "Washington DC". There is absolutely no reason why Washington DC. Would be calling me. I am not a politician.
They have called several times saying we were selected for a 8,000 grant from Washington D.C. They called today from another number 202-666-3228. Both numbers are a magic jack phone. It is scam and people are very rude. Tried to call back both numbers but all circuits are busy
I have received many harassing calls---often several in one day--to my cellphone from the number 202-666-9950 (a Verizon-serviced land-line located in Washington D.C.). Most of the times, the caller hangs up, refusing to leave any message on my voice-mail answering service. However, on one occasion, I answered and a woman with a foreign accent told me she is calling from the U.S. Government Treasury Department. I asked her to repeat what she said. She repeated it unclearly. I said we have a poor connection and I asked for her number so I can call her back. She then immediately hungup on me, as I said “Repeat it, scammer [***]!”
Good People--if these scum keep calling you, call the Federal Communications Commission and report 202-666-9950 !!!
The real U.S. Government must step in and shut these scammer-[***] down!
P.S.: These scammer-scum are also IDIOTS. The number called me today (February 1, 2015)--a SUNDAY! I do not believe the U.S. Treasury Department (or any other department of government) works on a Sunday. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
