A young man called our place yesterday - asking for Carmen. I said that there was NO Carmen at this number. So he paused for a moment - and then started trying to tell me something. I said to him, stop talking - I told you there was no Carmen at this number. I wound up yelling at him - and then slammed down the phone. It didn't help - it only raised my blood pressure. I am sure that there is some nice warm corner of hell waiting for that young man. I HATE telemarketers. Let them find some other way of earning a living that by torturing the rest of us.
Next time, I need to stay calm - and say - so how can I help you - while at that exact same time - hitting the button to disconnect the call.
Heh Heh Heh
I got a call from this afternoon. A young guy answered and was saying that I won a camera and posibly a trip to Florida. anyway he kept telling me that I won a camera and how I should wonder how I exspect to win and that my phone number was picked. I was on my way to work and couldn't talk and thoght it was a scam so I finally hung up. I tried calling the number back later on though it says they are no long excepting calls.
I have gotten calls like this before where they will say that I win something and I can get it if I attend some meeting and I don't have to buy anything.
I don't understand how people can get away with calling people a hundred times and making them believe that won something.
I got a call from this number on my work cell: it sounded sort of like someone asking for information or assistance. I was on a MARC train and couldn't hear well, so I said so and told the caller to try again after the intercom; they said something like they didn't have time for that and then either my signal cut out or they hung up on me.
When I tried to call the number back (it's a work cell, and I'm supposed to be responsive to customer/stakeholder inquiries), I got a recording saying the number was not in service.

Same thing, I answered the call a few times, no one there. If it let it go to voice mail, nothing. If I call it back, it isn't accepting incoming calls. Maybe something to the FCC would help
202-730-8001 Is a fake call back number. This outfit is a scam telemarketing company and they use eqpt that gives out a fake phone number on caller ids so you cant call them back when they piss you off or they dont give you the item they say you won after you send them money.
What I like to do is act interested in the scam, ask them to hold while i get my CC and see how long they will wait before they hang up. 12 mins is my record.
