This number called my home phone twice this week. We don't answer this phone. Only used when filling out forms we don't want to put our cell numbers on. The automated message left claimed to be the IRS. and said "The IRS has filed a lawsuit on you. To speak to your case worker, press 1... or to reach your case worker call: 315-309-0623....". A totally different number than what my caller ID showed.
Today (Friday, 2 days later), we got a similar call/message. This time it added to the beginning of the message, "We have tried reaching you many times. This is your last warning. The IRS has filed...." etc... This time after no one pressed 1, the contact number given was the same number as my caller ID. Perhaps they deduced someone might not call back if the number did not match. (?)
Hah! "Tried to reach you many times" my (insert expletive of your choice) . Only had 2 of these calls. Nothing else 2 months back. Besides, why would the IRS file a lawsuit on me when my whole working life, I always had a refund. That and the fact the IRS would not contact you by phone, but by mail were obvious indicators to me it was a scam.
NOTE: I left CALL TYPE on your phone as Unknown since "GOV'T AGENCY" wasn't included in your drop down list & nothing else matched.
