it is illegal for any telemarketer, any debt collector, any charity to use fake Caller ID information.
However, it is not illegal to have no Caller ID information at all.
Why not ? Well... the telcos aren't exactly cooperative with each other sometimes at passing that data through or allowing lookups of the CNAM. Contracts are involved.
I just received a call from a young lady telling me the same thing and she gave me a confirmation number and to called Chris Davis at a number 202-506-9595. I called and could barely hear the person on the other end. I hung up on him.
they called saying their giving out money only to then say well u have to pay this much to verify which i knew was strange so i said i didnt have it an he said call back but they keep getting new numbers!!! 2026210436!
