Just received the same call, guy said his name was officer white. He said he mailed me a notice 45 days ago. I pressed him, saying it is unusual first that he could not name my accountant who has been doing my taxes and I asked that I keep him on the call while I get my accountant and my attorney on the phone to validate what he was saying. He said that if I did that the Washington county sherif was going to be to my house in 45 mins to lock me up "behind the bars."
Got a voice message from someone claiming to be an officer with the local police department who said that my name had been given to them as part of a federal complaint from the IRS. The person said that I had 30 minutes to surrender myself to the police or I would be arrested at my place of employment or home. I was told to call 202-864-1377 as ask for someone (didn't get the name as the caller had a very heavy accent) to "see what's going on".
The caller named himself Steven White and told that I had tax fraud for last 3 years and will go to jail if I don't make a payment now for around $3000. He was asking me to stay on the phone, get into the car and go to nearby walmart and make a payment somewhere. It sounded fishy at this point and hanged up and searched google to find out that it was a fraud number.
