Got several missed calls from this number over the past few weeks. Never leave a message. Managed to answer today and they said they were from the technical dept of the 'Windows Operating Company' and said I had problems with my computer, including MyWeb files installed. The guy, who had an Indian accent, wanted me to fire up the computer there and then. I declined and hung up. The worrying thing is he knew my name. And if you call the number on caller display, it's a dead line. I think this is a scam of some sort. Has anyone else had it?
For a start, if I know my US numbers well, this number is invalid anyway. Second, I do not own a computer running Windows. I have one from work but they maintain that and it is well protected. Third, my partner had a similar call but from a clearly void caller ID a few weeks ago. The woman calling me sounded like a typical Indian call centre operative - not that I have anything against them per se, but of course they are likely to take on some of these rubbish jobs.
The call came to my direct London number. The ID is going on the block list now!
