I got a call from this number on Thursday the 17/03/2016 at 1:34 UK time. I, Zainab picked up the phone. I was home alone. So straight away she called me by my full name. ?. First it was a woman who spoke. She had an Indian accent. Definitely British Indian sounding lady. She knew details about me such as my name, address, email, date of birth. I live in the UK. She was offering phones like iPhone, Samsung, sonny. She offered 2 months trial on "shopping" thing and 3 months trial on "games and books". For the phones she said they're free for the first month. From the day they're activated. And after that they'll be £26.
She asked for my bank details. I’m stupid so I gave the 16 digit number, the expiry date, the sort code and bank card number (i.e. the 8 digit number.) And then she asked for the security number, the 3 digit number. I was reluctant to give that one in. She said “if I was uncomfortable with giving it I should type it on the phone and then press #”, so I did. I know I’m stupid. But don’t worry, I have nothing in my account. I’m 18 and a student. I get the money in cash from my parents. And I will let my bank know about this. She asked if I was working. If I was permitted to live here, UK indefinitely, if I had a permit to work. Etc.
Anyhow, I was referred to a man. Again, he sounded Indian. Asked more questions. Verified stuff.
I managed to record the last 3 minutes of the conversation.
The last line was I’ll call you back and that the line, phone line is not good.
Bear in mind, they talked to me in-between 1.34 and 2.15.
Background noise was loud. It did not seem like a working place. Or an office. It felt like a “family.” Their accents were quite heavy so I did not catch most of what they were saying, nor did I catch their names, unfortunately.
Called and Left NO Message Today February 10th 10:30 AM - Caller ID Name = Connecticut 203 141-4144 ......Blocked & Do NOT Answer this Call if You Recognize this Number.
This isn't the first time these idiots have called me, but now I've blocked the number. I have no idea what they want, other than to scam me. Can barely understand the guy for his thick East Indian accent. Something about getting "signals" from my "Windows computer" that have to do with security issues. I told the guy I don't have a "Windows computer," that my phone number is listed on the Do Not Call Registry, and that he should not call again. Then I hung up on him. Hate it when people waste my time.
The caller was telling you that your computer had told Microsoft that it has a virus and he wanted to fix it for you for a fee. In fact he wants to install malware on your computer and charge you for doing it. Congratulations on not falling for it.
A scam where they try to "fix" your computer and charge you for their services. They tried to convince me stopped services in msconfig were signs of problems.
