The caller left a message and said she was "Susan (no last name)" from Federal Investigation Department calling to inform me that there was a case filed against my name. She added that if I did not call back the case would be proceeded in a legal way....when I called back a voice message answered saying "Thank you for calling. We are currently closed." The voice machine had no mentioning about the name of the office or the organization. I mean, I believe any governmental office or even company office would mention their name in their answering machine, don't they? If they call me again I will take as much information as possible about THEM and see what information of mine is leaked out there so that I can file a report with the real FBI.
IRS scam. They talk very rudely and hang up the phone on yo. They threaten you with jail time for things like tax evasion and wrongful amount of taxes paid. They're merely trying to look up your information and scam you. don't fall for it!
Yes, they called me, too, and told me the police would come immediately after we hung up and arrest me, lol. Almost pooped my pants, but when I deliberately confronted them with questions about the IRS notices that should have been sent to me as a notification that I'm getting prosecuted for tax evasion, they couldn't summon up a decent answer and I knew it was a fraud.
Beware!....... Only stuff that is in writing, and from the IRS itself, counts as legitimate!
I just talked to them too. Extremely rude people, they said that in order to avoid going to court, I needed to pay $4600 immediately, over the phone! Thank god, I had enough common sense to understand that it was fishy. When I said I wanted to see everything in writing, a woman yelled at me and hang up.
