I received a secret shopper assignment and a check for $2300 was asked to shop Walmart buy gift cards and scratch off the security strip take photos of both sides of the cards and send them to a given email address then text (203) 403-3612 assignment completed I believe this is a scam or a money laundering scheme I was looking here to see if anybody else has had contact from this number
Thanks for the report. That's no "secret shopper" assignment. It's a pure ripoff of whoever buys the gift cards and sends the photos to the email address.
If the check was sent by USPS mail, give the envelope, check, and other contents to your local postmaster to be turned over to the postal inspector.

It states to do not register the card as stated on the front of the card before peel

Yes! I got an envelope with a check in the amount of $1800 asking for three $500 gift cards. It said it was a mystery shop, but they seemed far more concerned about getting the gift card information than the quality of customer service I received for buying them. That was the real red flag to me. A few days later, I started receiving 'Return to Sender' letters in the mail from other people who were also sent the same scam. Apparently, they are also now using my name and address to forward new requests to new victims. Beware!
