Angie
This 203-422-9507 number called me from CT, USA. It was a Spanish-accented lady claiming she worked for the IRS. She had my name and school address, but not my home address which is where I file my taxes under. She said there was a warrant out for my arrest because I'd filed my taxes improperly or something. Claimed that my car, home, and bank accounts would be seized if I was found guilty. Also said I'd be arrested for 72 hours and if found guilty would have to pay $35,000. Which is hilarious... because I'm a student who has NO property and has never even had a full-time job. She said she was going to end the call and alert the local authorities and that they'd be arrest me. So I called the local police and before I could even finish the sentence, he said, "That's a phishing scam, local police don't take care of IRS stuff." So there you go.

I just received the same phone call that Angie had mentioned.  I usually don't pick up random phone calls so i didn't bother picking it up. Then she left the same message as Angie. She called 3 times in a row. I tried to call her back but her phone was off.So is it a prank call?

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I received a call on my cell phone on 1/20/15 from a lady by the name of Carisa Moss (strong accent) claiming to be from the IRS's fraud/investigative unit.  She was quite aggressive in her stance that I owe the IRS money from past years and that I have failed to contact them in regard to two letter they had mailed me.  I mentioned that I wasn't aware of any charges - having not received anything in the mail.  She asked for my address "which I foolishly provided".  The red flag went off when she said that the State Police have been notified and will be arresting me if this matter isn't resolved promptly.  I never let her reveal how she wanted this matter resolved (i.e. provide a cc number, etc.).  When I asked her for her address, she provided: 131 West Street, Danbury CT "IRS hq".  After a few minutes she became a little more aggressive...probably sensing my doubt especially when she asked "how I claimed"?  I asked her to tell me....since the IRS has all the info.  She failed to provide the info.  From there, I continued to be professional with a touch of skepticism.  I told her I would contact the Dallas IRS office.  She then threatened to call the State Police again and have me arrested.  I asked her for the Dallas IRS info and she said "I don't have that."  I then hung up.
