Caller-ID display said "WALMART" but the call was certainly not from Walmart. The caller asked if I had any interest in furthering my education, and I supposedly filled out some form online for more information (which I didn't). When I started asking too many questions, the caller hung up. I called the number back and got a recording saying the same nonsense about furthering my education. Neither the caller nor the voice on the recording had a foreign accent, so the individuals may actually be based in the U.S., although maybe not in Branford, CT, as the online lookup sites indicate.
This must be something brand new, because I searched the number online and got virtually zero hits. If it weren't brand new, there would certainly be entries here at 800notes.
I sent an email to Walmart describing this incident and I suggest you do the same if you get this call. The caller-ID name was obviously spoofed to make people more likely to answer the phone. I'm sure Walmart will not be very pleased at all about this type of activity.
I started getting these calls when I signed up for career websites like Monster and CareerBuilder even though I stated that I was NOT interested in furthering my education. I guess no means yes with these people!
