This was what sounded like a waaaayyy offshore phone bank, cold calling in violation of the National Do-Not-Call Registry, and claiming to be from Insure.com. These folks are working as Sales Aggregators for local and regional insurance companies in the U.S. I had Mr. Bangalor on the phone for 10 minutes, giving completely bogus information about 2 vehicles I've never owned, a house I don't have, and size/weight/age that I haven't been for quite a while. Eventually, this info filters in to the U.S. companies, who will call me with insurance quotes, claiming that I requested info FROM A WEB PAGE (in fact, Mr. Bangalor requested that I tell them I visited Insure.com...). When they do, I'll string them along as long as possible, giving more fictional info when requested. E V E N T U A L L Y, I'll let them know that they have been PUNKED for using illegally-operating Aggregators to get sales leads, and that if they continue to use these folks, a lot of their day might be spent taking fake info from angry people who are really fed up with a constantly ringing telephone...
Enjoyed reading these...I got an unrequested insurance solicitation last week, and blocked them on the YouMail app at that time. They have called every single day, with 3 calls today...and how I know is I blacklisted them on YouMail and all they get is the "de-de-de..the number you have called is out of service an" and a hangup. I only found out about their calls when I decided to look and see what success the app was giving me...darned good for a freebie. I only had to deal with these losers once, and I benefit from other users input as well. So, insurance jerks, keep calling for what it's worth.
As most of you know, if you block a number of this type, they switch to another computer-generated phone number. Most mobile (and other) phone systems let you block a limited amount of phone numbers. I found a phone system that lets you block an unlimited amount of phone numbers. Let them call from as many numbers as they like. I don't mind taking the extra 10 seconds to block it
