When I asked who was calling and what the call was about, the caller hung up. Surely not a legitimate call.
Caller definitely had Indian or similar accent. I kind of let him go on so I could get the full scam -
"because my VISA was in good standing for so long (I don't have a VISA card!), I was qualified to get a vacation package to Orlando Florida, and could take my husband (?) and up to (x) amount of people as long as they stayed in the same room, same hotel? (can't remember)." This offer was good for up to 18 months; I just had to let them know 30 days before I took the trip. I said "what's the catch?". He said no catch - I would just be responsible for government taxes, fees, etc. and all I had to do was to now was verify my credit card information :) I told him to get a real job and stop stealing from people and I hung up. I hit redial to call the last number that called me - the number I had reached was not in service.
I had a call before 9 AM today from this number. There was nobody at the other end, just background noise. I hung up after a few seconds. ID was 'Long Distance' and the 10 digit phone number. I am located in Nova Scotia, Canada, so this caller is not staying inside the USA.
