Who called from 2062011604

Didn't get a call from this number, but its a number used on Seattle Times rental website for someone renting out houses in West Seattle for CHEAP! Googled it to see if it was 4 real or was a scam!

I saw those ads too and did a little more research.  It is a company out of Florida called Tenant Marketplace.  You can find out more by going to the BBB.org website and looking them up by phone number.  They just went into business Jan. 2008.

The phone number listed for this and several other properties advertised in the Seattle Times, NWSource, and NWapartments (206-201-1604) is a dummy line located on Bainbridge Island, WA.  This “local” residential number is actually forwarded to an unlicensed business in St. Petersburg, FL called "Tenant Marketplace" (1-800-594-3476).  

According to the recorded voice message, Tenant Marketplace represents that it will locate appropriate Washington State rental properties for potential tenants for a “completely refundable” $149 fee up-front.  Unfortunatley, people are purchasing this service based on these representations.  

Nevertheless, while “Tenant Marketplace” accepts the $149 fee, it never provides the list of appropriate rental properties, and repeated requests for a refund will go ignored.  When contacted directly in Florida, Tenant Marketplace claims to have no mailing address, no physical address, no registered agent, and will not reveal the name or contact information of its owner.  When asked about the refund, its representatives simply hang-up the phone.  This fraudulent practice is a clear violation of Washington’s consumer protection laws and must be stopped.

In addition, according to the Washington State Department of Revenue, Washington State Department of Business Licensing, Washington State Employment Security Department, and Better Business Bureau, this organization --“Tenant Marketplace” -- is unregistered and unlicensed to do business in Washington.  Thus, this Florida organization is unlawfully avoiding Washington business taxes and state regulation.

This organization is using NWSource/NWapartments/Seattle Times to scam Washington citizens, while paying no Washington State business taxes or licensing fees, and avoiding regulatory oversight.

This company posts ads in local newspapers across the country, and on the internet. For houses and other properties to rent, when you call the local number the post, they direct you to call a 800 number. Then they offer a list of rental properties with no credit check, with a money back garantee, for a $149 dollars.

It obviously sounds too good to be true, but over that phone they will tell you ANYTHING to get you to pay that money. Basically after you pay they send you a list of rental properties, that you could have gotten on Craigslist.com or on any other classified site for free. All of the properties are not in the price range or location as advertised, and have securtiy deposit and a background check. They dont have anything they say they do, including a money back guarantee. Many of the listed properties have no idea they are being listed by this company, they have never even heard of them.

The employees they have anwsering there phones are the nicest people, until you pay, after that they are ignorant fools, running there mouths off. Acting like nothing can be done to them for lying, taking peoples money, and providing no service. In certain cases they are known to challenge there customers to attempt for the refund. Threatening to erase evidence of “diligent searching” for properties over the 120 day trial period.

This company takes advantage of people with bad credit, in hard times. It seems to be, they get away with this because they don’t like to give any information out about themselves

This company is a SCAM!!!!
