It happened to me as well, but i am under-aged. A man named John something told me i was qualified for a grant of $7000 (thick indian accent as well) and had all of my personal information. I confirmed everything, but later realized it was a scam and hanged up. He then called back again saying my name and with a whiny accusing voice why did you hang up? i then told him not to call anymore for i was under - aged and still lived with my parents (although they weren't so) he then started asking me for personal information such as my siblings, if i had older or younger ones, what school i went to and etc. I then asked him why and he said because he wants to meet me. He said i was a nice and polite girl. Then i hanged up. He hasn't called back but i`m scared.
got a call from a women stating she was from us federal grant and that i have been randomly selected to receive a free grant for $7500 and all i needed was to call 206-201-2051 and give my bank account number to have my money automatically wired into my account. of course i'm no fool. u don't get something for nothing and i of course didn't give out my info. then i called this number 3 times and hung up and it was a little fishy that the same guy kept picking up. don't u think that a department as big as the us federal grant would have more than one person answering as well as an automated system to pick up calls and transfer them to different departments? wouldn't u also think that the dept would have a 1-800 number. just needed to put up my experience so that others wouldn't be fooled into doing anything as stupid as giving out person info over the phone. hope this helps.
Hi got the same call. When I spoke to her she asked for my bank account info. I told her to just send a check. They already had my address somehow. She said I was supposed to call 206-201-2051 to finalize things and speak to a Paula Hadley. She asked me exactly what time I was going to call. That seemed fishy to me. She also gave me a grant approval number.
I wasn't able to call at the time I told her but called the next morning and got an answering machine that just said "The person your trying to reach is unavailable. Please leave a message"
I got the same call today, told me I was getting a 7,000 grant, they had already knew my name and address then they asked me for my account info, was smart enough to not give it to them, so then I told them to mailed me the check, then they said the check will arrive within 6-7 business days..pretty weird, and sounds like a scan to me as well.
Did u Ever receive a check cause I just spoke with a guy as well saying the same thing. I am supposed to call this number to claim my check. And have a Grant # code. I Don't believe it. There's No Way I Just get picked out of Millions of Ppl approved For FREE MONEY. I NOT GIVING OUT ANY INFORMATION JUST GOING TO ASK FOR A CHECK TO BE MAILED.
Ed I just got the same call, the number 202 559 7618 from Washington just called me. I had noticed calls from U.S. Govt for a few days now. When I answers they new my name, my address, wanted my birthday. Exact same thing as everyone is saying. The bad thing is my 12 year old son is fighting a rare cancer and I don't really have time for a scam. I wonder why they are getting away w this. Using us govt numbers and has been doing so since 2011. They need to be stopped asap!!!!!
