Glad you were able to recover the payment money, and thanks for letting us know you stayed safe!

You might want to print out the following, to remind you about some of the phone scams out there:

Things to believe:

• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, a car from a caller, or a grant from a gracious government    ◄- ◄- ◄- ◄- ◄-
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or a different famous software company, or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot", MoneyGram or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Geeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites, or a statement that your computer is infected.
• 876 is NOT your lucky number, and it will cost you money to call that area code!
• The number you see on your Caller ID may not be the number of the person who called you!

I got a call early this morning from a private number with a man with a foreign accent giving me a confirmation code and a different phone number to call and continue to receiving my grant which was for 8,500 and it was a once in a life time chance and I would no longer be getting randomly chosen again. After I called the number I spoke to a lady with a foreign accent named linda walker.. Now what foreigner do you know that has an American full name with a strong accent??!! After I spoke to her I asked what her supervisors name was and she said that she was the senior account manager. I started to get iffy because I asked if I could speak to someone above her and she said that would not be possible and that if I didn't want to claim the grant it was fine.  I was then told to money gram them $260 for taxes. After that she said to call her once I had reached the parking lot of the western union to get the information I would need to process transaction. She said that she didn't want to send the money with out me being there because the western union would possibly deny the amount because it was a large amount of money. Now why wouldn't it be ok for western union to know what's going on?? This has to be a scam!!  I was hoping it wasn't a scam but something told me to look up thier number and found plenty of negative before I money gram them any of my money. Thanks to all of you for posting what happen to you guys as individuals.

just got a call from this number saying the irs was going to file a lawsuit against me. Please call back on this number to get more information. Sure, I'm going to foot the bill for an outgoing call to a scammer.

I received a call on my home phone recorder telling me that I was being sued by the IRS and to call back immediately to avoid litigation.  This is the number that I was given to call.  I was pretty sure it was a scam.  It appears that I was correct
