I received one call today(so far) and says to call back on 206-201-2785. Yesterday, I received 3 calls with same message and says to call back on 206-801-0292. They say that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. Ironically, I have had some minor issues with the IRS that were resolved approx. 3 months ago, so I thought they may have gotten my number from hacking into the IRS database. However, I think these calls are just random, and they are running this scam to rip off anyone they can.
The IRS almost always contacts people by mail first(no matter what the issue). If you ignore it, then they will escalate it to a more threatening letter(ie. property liens, etc.) if they think you owe them money. I would assume that by the time they would resort to filing a lawsuit the taxpayer would be well aware of what the issue is.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
