I have received two calls like this. In each case the caller claimed to be from windows on line support. In each case he wanted me to log on to the computer which I refused to do
In the first instance it was claimed that I had sent error messages to microsoft....but that was impossible as my modem had not worked for the three preceding months
Yesterday the same claim was made; again impossible as I had not logged on to the coputer for a week.
Like you I am suspicioius of this but was told that I could vreify his identity on the microsoft on line support website.
I woiuld be interested to know if others are getting these calls.
Hi There just got a call today from 206-203-2912 same name Peter Anderson, hvy accent with lots of voices in background. I spoke with my server people here and they said this number is connected to another number calling from Egypt. Please post wherever you can even on Facebook warning people about these characters.....
This happened to me as well. The guy said his name was James Taylor and had a foreign accent.
He used my married name that my computer was not registered in.
I asked for a call back # which was rge number 206-203-2912 - he said he was calling fron New York.
Made no sense to me.
So I hung up - beware of these malicious scammers.
I got the same call and there were many people in the background. The first person had a heavier accent (Indian) but they transferred me to their manager, who spoke with a less prominent accent and told me his name was Sam Bradson, Microsoft ID ms_00659. I asked them how they got my number and they kept repeating that the Microsoft system alerted them...which is totally impossible. I told them I would speak with my husband and they gave me the 1.206.203.2912 number to call back. I looked on line and found this site http://www.informationweek.com/security/manag ... s-7-f/240005023
and realize I should have just hung up. I feel terrible for those that get fooled by organizations such as these. This is ridiculous.
My wife also received this call from 206-203-2912, which we also found suspicious. We reported this number to the website below, but our complaint cannot be entertained because our phone number was not registered in Do Not Call List. We then registered our number to DNC List and now waiting for 31 days for it to take effect.
We suggest to register your phone number as well to stop telemarketers/scammers from disturbing you.
I received a call from 2062032912 from a guy claiming to be from Microsoft saying my computer had problems. He said his name was Mike [Watson]. I asked him if he was in Karachi, and in his heavy accent he said no, "Im in New York City". I asked him if I could call him back and he said yes and gave me this number. I have received calls from these guys before and have just hung up on them. They are obvious scammers.
