On 2/10/2016 at 1:39pm, Received a message from a Female, English speaking, no accent, with the following
message:  "The IRS is filing a law suit against you, to get more information on this case call us back at 206-204-5033".
I have not back-traced this phone number but a back-trace would identify who this caller is and where they are located.
Now, the results of a back-trace is not something that should be published on the Internet, however, to report the identity
of the party using this phone number to the proper authorities, Police where you live, where the telephone number traces back to, The Internal Revenue Service, and to Home Security because Terrorist threat is involved here would be the proper
channels to go through.  Keep good records of your chain of actions:  Dates, times, Who, What, When, Where, How, and Why.  Telephone Harassment (Document the number of times these people call you) so you may have to involve your carrier to have this phone number blocked from your phone number through them.  This is the best process to get this stopped.

There's no real way to stop the calls from being initiated.  You can protect yourself by using a call blocker and not picking up on call numers you do not recognize.  They spoof local numbers.  Usually area codes 202 and 206.  Washington DC and Washington State respectively.  The callers don't know the difference, but seem to want o to make people believe they are form the government in Washington DC.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Call from 206-204-5033. Was a recorded message that the IRS was filing a suit against me.  When I called the number back, a woman with an Asian accent asked for my phone number and name.  We never got past the phone number.  On several attempts I gave her my phone number, but she could not recite it back to me, I'm assuming because of the language barrier.  After the 4th attempt of trying to get her to repeat my phone number, I hung up.  I knew it was a scam going in, I REALLY wanted to find out who this was perpetrating this fraud of the IRS.
