I received 2 voicemails today (both from WA) from 2 different towns and 2 different numbers. Both said that I had a warrant out for my arrest and needed to call regarding my charges. It freaked me out because I don't live in the state of WA nor have I had anything worse than a speeding ticket. My immediate thought was identity theft! I looked up this number before calling and found all these other posts similar to mine.
SCAM IRS CALL. Received 2 calls from 206-201-2082, didn't answer, didn't know the number or area code. Caller left a message that this is the "IRS and this is The Final Notice" The message also stated that I needed to call the above referenced number to update my tax information.....yeah ok I'm calling right back: SCAM Alert!!!
I received 2 calls from 206-201-2082 today and voice mails were left for both. The first was stating they were notifying me that a law suit has been filed against me and to call back ASAP.. I then received the 2nd call that it was the final notice.. Definitely scams because I would have received documents in the mail before a phone call and definitely before a final notice call..
"THIS IS OFFICIALLY A FINAL NOTICE FROM IRS. INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE. THE REASON OF THIS CALL IS TO INFORM YOU THAT IRS IS FILING LAWSUIT AGAINST YOU."
I called back. The number is active. The person on the other end had a very strong accent. He gave me a case number and indicate the call would be recorded by the IRS and the Washington DC police department. I indicated I would not share any personally identifiable information over the phone. He hung up.
