Because they know you're not buying their spiel. It's not uncommon to get cursed and threatened by telepests, it could mean they're not having much luck. Try hanging up after you say no thanks if you choose to take the call.

Robocall was rejected so they were unable to leave any message. Sometimes they wait to see if phone is answered (so they can sell your number to another scammer as being a viable number) or if a fax would kick in (fax messages also tie up your machinery).

The FCC no longer takes complaints regarding the phone scammers who robodial your number then neither leave any message nor talk.  The State of NJ has made it harder to file complaints about DNC violations unless the complainant is able to drill down to the complaint form (found thru www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/telemarketers) and fill it out, then mail it in – al at your cost!

Roborectums know all that thus our elected legislators have basically blessed to continue to annoy us.  Not to mention that when the caller realizes he/she/it has been blocked, they either get a new number to call from or spoof another (many times an innocent) number.

To make things even worse, all phone providers profit by providing service to these scammers and won’t shut them down as it would be lost income for every phone provider who is aiding and abetting the illicit activity scammer.

Every phone provider easily knows these roboterrorists utilize their services just by monitoring the bandwidth and frequency of calls made from a single source.  We, the recipients, are all victims of this crime and it’s high time to fight back – so if you actually talk to a human, identify them by asking for their address so you can send them a check, and then hang up.  Use their mailing address on every postage paid postcard you find in magazines offering free insurance estimates, travel, magazine samples, etc.  On the up side - this will help reduce the USPS debt.

Contact your legislators to stop the robocallers – send them a complaint every time you get a call.  Tell them to stop the scumbags or you will elect someone who will as their inaction and total lack of regard for your wellbeing and privacy further aids and abets each robocaller.

The DNC law works only for honest callers.  Federal and State laws need to be enacted to guide the phone providers in terminating the illegal roboactivity and phone scams – put the onus on the providers and not the honest users!

Also, why not sue the phone providers for their inaction to pull the plug on the phone terrorists?  A fantastic class action suit awaits a great attorney team on this one, because it appears that neither Federal nor State authorities give a damn to protect us and openly permit the phone companies to continually profit from your life being interrupted.

Verizon’s Call Intercept service (a $9.99 per month ransom plus federal and local taxes) limits you to 25 numbers.  So I use a Panasonic KX-TG6844 phone that can block 250 numbers. The cost of $111 paid for itself in a year and I dropped the Verizon intercept service extortion fee.

Many robocalls originate on the Verizon network and thru their subsidiary companies and affiliates such as Cellco. Of course, Sprint, Level 3, Cavalier, Embarq, T-mobile, and Cingular (to name a few) are also used providers.  What if these scammers might even be related to phone company employees?

Finally, contact the Consumer Union (Consumer Reports) site www.EndRobocalls.org and sign their petition to pressure the phone companies and lobby the government. It won’t cost you a cent!  July 2015 news articles indicate Verizon is going to screw us more during their attempt to deregulate communications services and fees which could cost us considerably more by buying into their anonymous call intercept useless service, etc.

Received call, appeared from Seattle.  They said they were from PSE&G and were calling to confirm my "rate reduction next month".   Then attempted to work through my PII to verify my identity to authorize the "rate reduction".   When I asked what group within PSE&G they were calling from, they hung up.   Calling the number back gives a recorded message with an option to opt-out.
