UPDATE: THIS NUMBER IS NOW DISCONNECTED!!!! I am not completely sure as to what has happened, but after filing the complaints I continued to call (as well as posting this number and info in every place I could think of) The last contact I had was on 11/19/14 and the voicemail box was full, by 11/21/14 the number had been disconnected. Please in the future do not stop calling these numbers until they are out of commission.
I have received calls from this number claiming to be IRS. After a little detective work I found that the number is a VoIP from Bandwidth.com. I have filed complaints with the FTC, IRS, and Bandwidth. I also have been calling this number back multiple times daily and doing what I can to tie it up. (As well as spamming their voicemail box at night) I have let "Agent Martinez" know that I will continue to call until ; 1. The number is no longer in service, or 2. An IRS agent shows up at my door. If anyone else receives calls I would advice them to do the same thing.
I had the same call this morning. After asking the "agent" to give me all his information, he disconnected the call. Really?! I will try to do the same thing as the previous caller.
Got the same call from 206-316-8336 identifying themselves as IRS HQ wanting to speak to me about a lawsuit being filed in my county against me personally for my personal taxes. IRS never does that, they would send you letters if there is ever a problem. I decided to call them back and of course Alex Martinez with Badge ID 101895337 answered. He identified himself as such and proceeded to explain a lawsuit. He asked if i wanted details but warned me not to interrupt him at all and that i would have time for questions after but that once he explained he would file. I stopped him and asked to clarify his name and badge number and asked exactly where he was calling from. He said this is (this is how he said it, Arabic accent)...this is IRS from IRS Headquarters in Seattle...this is about your taxes. I told him that the IRS HQ was not in Seattle and he went silent then proceeded to argue that there are only 2 main IRS HQ one in DC and the other in Seattle, called me an idiot and hung up.
English message on answering machine about a lawsuit filed on my name. Had to call this number back to prevent the suit from being filed with local legal court house. Called back, foreign man by name of Jack said it was IRS, then immediately hung up.
