I got an automated call stating this is the IRS and I should call the number back to avoid "jail time." I listened to the entire message. The caller ID only listed the number, which matched the call back number in the recording. It did not list a name. The number is now blocked on my phone. I need to find an effective place to report the number. Given it's the same call-back number as was listed on the phone, at least the information provided will be credible.
What really annoys me is that it is probably the people who can least afford these scams that are the ones that will call back and maybe pay money to the scammers. These so-called IRS calls have been well-publicized in the media. If you get a call, don't bother calling back. If the IRS needs to reach you, you will get official communications in the mail.
when I told them that i was going to give their number to the police, they were like "hold on, hold on"...then they hung up...I did try to call them back and when they answered they said to call tomorrow...i've been ringing their phone off of the hook for 2 hours now....they won't answer again but i hope it's annoying them...
I also just received this automated message about 5 minutes ago. I have read all the posts and would like to know if there is a number that I can call to report this.
