I just recieved a call from this number with the exception of the last 2 numbers being 57. Guy said he was with the Gov. Grant dept and that I had to download the Teamviewer 6 software in order to get my $5,200 government grant, where I would get a Western Union Money transfer number to pick up my funds with. I asked alot of questions and referred to this being a scam and the guy got quite irritated with me and told me to I could call back to verify the number was a working number. Well, that was very reassuring........not!!! THIS IS SUCH A SCAM SO DON'T FALL FOR IT. I went with my gut feeling, and hung up on the guy, did some research on Teamviewer 6 scams and really glad I did! Score one for the potential victim this time!!!
Have a guy calling me saying that I have been approved for a federal grant. He told me I had to download a program called Team Viewer 6. Seems like a scam to me. I don't know. I just want a straight answer.
This is a scam. Gov grants exist but they generally are never available for individuals and it takes a train load of paperwork to apply for it. The Gov does not call individuals and offer them grants without tons of paperwork. Absolutely do not download anything the caller wants you to. He is likely going to install malware on your PC. Here are some links that warn about Gov grants and downloading software from strangers.

Got a call from India saying I was getting a grant from an application in 2010, that I never even applied for until 2011.They had old addresses of mine. They wanted to download the Teamviewer7 that actually takes control of my computer supposedly to allow the software to connect me to Wash. DC! Liars! I canceled just before I hit the download button. DON'T FALL FOR THESE PHONY SCAMS (if you've recently applied for grants online)
