THIS WAS THE CALL BACK NUMBER FROM THE IRS (INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE'S, GET IT 'S) NOT FROM THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE. THEY SAID, FINAL NOTICE BEFORE WE FILE A SUIT. MORE B.S. IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO FILE A SUIT THEY RARELY CALL FIRST. YOU GET SERVED PAPERS FROM THE COURTHOUSE THEN YOU RESPOND. THIS IS SO BOGUS. I MIGHT CALL JUST TO ACT STUPID AND HAVE A LITTLE FUN. I WILL GIVE THEM A RANDOM NUMBER AND START A FUN CONVERSATION. I MAY EVEN OFFER TO SEND THEM MONEY TO SETTLE. SHOULD BE A HOOT. DON;T BE ALARMED, THIS IS BS.
Received what sounded like a computer-generated call stating this was final notice that IRS was going to file lawsuit against me, and to call this number.
the call came from 401-617-2888. they left a message saying they are from the IRS and were filing a lawsuit against us. Left 206-569-4739 as the number to call them back.
i called them back on a google voice line , which they were surprisingly able to find in their system by my name. which i told them only my first name.. then i asked if it was my business taxes that are the problem he quickly said yes..
at which time i asked how much and he said 6,902 i said wow... how can i fix it.... reply was pay it.. i asked if i could put it all on my credit card. he said only debit. i said ok. i said let me give you the spelling of my last name... which i spelled..... and then i made a little small talk and told him my friends called me DIck... so my name is DICK GOES IN YA.
quick hang up after that... best part is i kept him on phone for like 15 minutes... he probably thought he scored a huge lay down..... i pray not to many people fall for this...
