I was called from some guy w/ an Indian accent saying to call this number for a "government grant" that is tax free, but they won't send in check form. Sounds like a scam.
Guy called with a thick accent and said not to tell anyone about the "grant" money but it would have to be sent by wire transfer to a bank account or a credit card w/ a zero balance. Wanted to make sure that I was not in Bankruptcy too. They are trying to get your account information to be able to get access to money and leave you holding the bag.
They had given me this number to call to verify information but I told him that it was a scam and hung up. Don't give them your information. If this was true - it would be done legit, out in the open, and they would be willing to send you a check!
I received a call from this number. Couldn't hardly understand the woman. Said that only a few people were randomly chosen to received a government grant that you do not ever have to pay back. Wanted my bank or credit card info. Told her I didn't have either. She said she could wire me the money to western union but I would have to pay the transfer fee up front because their not affiliated with western union. Sounds too good to be true. Said I was receiving $9,849.00. Yeah right!
