Received a couple calls last week. Received 3 calls yesterday (Jan. 16/12) AND 6 calls today (Jan. 17/2012). When I answer, NO ONE is on the line.. This is frustrating.

This group calls me every week, sometimes three times a day claiming they can see malicious activity and viruses on my computer (when I do mange to talk to someone). The claim they work in support of Microsoft.
Most of the time the phone just goes dead after 5 seconds. There are different callers, all with a middle-east accent. The phone number most often shows up as just 510005, but also shows up as 213 651-0005 or 210 251-0005.
I ask to be taken off their list but they keep calling every week. Don't listen to these jerks. It is some kind of scam.
I got a call from them today (December 22, 2011). Unfortunately, I was busy doing something else at the time and a little distracted, and didn't check the number before I answered. Normally I do not answer calls from unrecognized numbers. The call was from someone who said his name was Gary....East Indian accent.....claiming to be from "Windows Technical Support". I knew immediately it was a scam, told Gary what he could do with his "support" and hung up. He actually had the nerve to call me right back. I did not answer this time.
Best advice.....the most worthwhile money you will ever spend is to get call display and visual call waiting on your phone, and NEVER AGAIN ANSWER ANY CALLS FROM NUMBERS YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE!!!! If it's a legitimate call from an unrecognized number, the caller will leave a message. Telemarketers and scammers never leave messages.
